Effectively and efficiently retrieving information based on user needs is one of the most exciting areas in multimedia research. The Annual ACM International Conference on Multimedia Retrieval (ICMR) offers a great opportunity for exchanging leading-edge multimedia retrieval ideas among researchers, practitioners and other potential users of multimedia retrieval systems.

This annual conference, which puts together the long-lasting experiences of the former ACM CIVR (International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval) and ACM MIR (International Conference on Multimedia Information Retrieval) series, was set up in 2011 to illuminate the state of the arts in multimedia (e.g., text, image, video, audio, sensor data, 3D) retrieval. Following the successful previous editions of ICMR (see the complete ICMR history here): Trento, Italy 2011; Hong Kong, China 2012; Dallas, USA 2013; Glasgow, UK 2014; Shanghai, China 2015; New York, USA 2016; Bucharest, Romania 2017; Yokohama, Japan 2018; Ottawa, Canada 2019; Dublin, Ireland 2020 and Taipei, Taiwan 2021.

ACM ICMR 2022 is calling for papers presenting significant and innovative research in multimedia retrieval and related fields. Papers should extend the state of the art by addressing new problems or proposing insightful solutions. The scope of the conference includes core topics in multimedia retrieval and recommendation, as well as the broader set of topics that must be addressed to ensure that multimedia retrieval technologies are of practical use in real-world use cases. Special emphasis is placed on topics related to large-scale indexing, mixed reality user interaction, exploiting diverse and multimodal data, and domain-specific challenges.

Welcome to the website of the 18th International Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning to be held online on November 3-12, 2021 (with workshops and tutorials scheduled during November 3-7, and the main conference from November 8-12).

Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KR) is a well-established and lively field of research. In KR a fundamental assumption is that an agent's knowledge is explicitly represented in a declarative form, suitable for processing by dedicated reasoning engines. This assumption, that much of what an agent deals with is knowledge-based, is common in many modern intelligent systems. Consequently, KR has contributed to the theory and practice of various areas in AI, including automated planning and natural language understanding, and to fields beyond AI, including databases, verification, software engineering, and robotics. In recent years, KR has contributed also to new and emerging fields, including the semantic web, computational biology, cyber security, and the development of software agents.

The KR conference series is the leading forum for timely in-depth presentation of progress in the theory and principles underlying the representation and computational management of knowledge.

The IEEE International Conference on Multimedia & Expo (ICME) has been the flagship multimedia conference sponsored by four IEEE societies since 2000. It aims at promoting exchange of the latest advances in multimedia technologies, systems, and applications from both the research and development perspectives of the circuits and systems, communications, computer, and signal processing communities. With around 1,000 submissions and 500 participants each year, ICME serves as the prime forum for the dissemination of knowledge in the multimedia field. ICME aims at a high-quality conference program that presents cutting-edge multimedia technologies addressing emerging challenges in the frontlines of scientific researches and engineering practices. In 2022, many new themes in the scientific program will be offered, including setting the Multimedia Rising Star award to promote youth researchers in the multimedia area and highlighting the important role of women in the multimedia area to attract more women researchers to contribute their research and participate in ICME.

ICME convenes leading researchers and practitioners to share the latest developments and advances in the discipline. The conference will showcase high quality oral and poster presentations, as well as, feature Workshops sponsored by IEEE societies. Researchers, developers and practitioners are welcomed to organize such Workshops on any new or emerging topic of Multimedia technology. An exposition of multimedia products, animations and industries will be held in conjunction with the conference. Moreover, proposals for Panels, Tutorials, Special Sessions, Collaborative Project Papers and Grand Challenges are invited as well. In ICME 2022, exceptional papers and contributors will be also selected and recognized with prestigious awards. ICME 2022 warmly welcomes you to the conference in Taipei!
