The Mathematics of AI

The mathematics rubric includes articles that focus primarily upon the mathematical underpinnings of machine learning, data analytics and cognitive computing. These articles either cover mathematical notation extensively or deal with mathematical principles that influence the code and models used in data science.

Drones and Robot AI

This rubric covers the use of artificial intelligence systems used to control and respond to the behavior of drones, robots, and similar self-mobile sensor/actuator systems. This also covers the use of drones in various business-related scenarios.

AI Visualization

Visualizations play an increasingly prominent role in the realm of AI. Past a certain point, information simply cannot be conceptualized by staring at words or numbers, you need a picture. Articles in this category focus on visualization at all levels, from analytics to 3D rendering, dashboards to user experience, deep fakes to media blockbusters.

AI Sight

This rubric focuses on computer vision, and how computers can gain high-level understanding from data derived from digital images or videos. Topics also include haptics and other examples of computer sensory input, as well as concepts such as generative adversarial networks and AI-driven image recognition.

AI Linguistics

AI Linguistics covers a number of related rubrics, including the AI behind the processing of speech, comprehension of written text (the next stage of optical character recognition), natural language processing, production of synthetic speech, chatbots and smart agents such as Siri or Alexa.

AI Hardware

The AI Hardware rubric examines the physical infrastructure of AI, including the various types of processors required, intelligent routers and server farms.

AI Data Stores

This rubric covers databases from SQL workhorses to the latest in graph computing. Because DSC focuses on computation and modeling, the rubric does not deal as much with traditional data management issues, but it does explore database systems (SQL and no-SQL) that are heavily used within data science or analytic circles.
